Ginger Opp
Executive Director
I am thrilled to be joining the team at WindWalkers. I have been in the valley since 2001, and live in Basalt with my husband and three sons. Many of you I may already know, and those of you I don’t, I look forward to meeting you! My equestrian background is as a professional Hunter/Jumper trainer, working for over 20 years in the valley. My love of horses was forged at the age of 4 when I had my first ride on a neighbor's pony. I believe that horses, whether you are riding, grooming, or mucking stalls offer a unique opportunity to learn, build community, grow and heal from the difficulties of life. There is something intrinsically good for us all to engage with these special animals. Bringing access to horses for people of all abilities and ages is work that I am proud to be a part of.
One of the core values that drew me to WindWalkers as an organization was that it has been built with a heart to serve. I am thankful that our board has worked hard to preserve this quality. Our staff and volunteers live out this service each day up at the ranch, and really are what make this place so special. If you have spent time up here you know this well. I think our board, staff, and volunteers would all agree that giving our time to this work has great meaning and rewards us each personally. WindWalkers has many community partnerships, and we hope to have many more. We are listening to what the community needs and thinking openly about how we can help. We believe collaboration is necessary to have the greatest impact possible for good and to lift our community as a whole.
I am excited for what the future holds for WindWalkers. I would love for you to be a part of what we are doing here. Please come up to visit, consider volunteering, and partner with us in our work.
